Graph - Total EV Sales Northern Ireland 2021

Earlier this morning the Department for Transport released the figures for last years EV sales here.

The 2020 total of 1,680 new plugin vehicles registered in Northern Ireland has more than double to 3,779 for 2021. That brings the cumulative total of 4,722 at the end of 2020, to 8,501 EVs here at the end of 2021.

The BIK (benefit in kind) rates are undoubtedly helping company car drivers discover the benefits of EV ownership, and in time these vehicles should filter through to help grow the used market.

As ever, more cars means more pressure on our public charging infrastructure, but with multiple projects now announced, we expect to see significant changes in the next 18 months.
